Thanks to an ever-changing corporate landscape, today’s workforce looks for more than just a paycheck in a potential employer. Applicants want to believe in the mission of an organization before they can picture themselves apart of it. They shouldn’t have to look far to see the good things a company does for its community. At Atlas, we give back because it’s the right thing to do. We encourage our team members to always do the right thing, regardless of the challenges they may encounter.
We give back because it's the right thing to do.
The charity arm of Atlas, The Sam and Nada Simon Foundation, hosts an annual holiday party at Selfridge Air National Guard Base for members of the military and their families. The party is staffed solely by Atlas team member volunteers who run the many amenity functions: food and snack distribution, games, face painting, arts and crafts, gifts and live music. The highlight of the event is a formal thank you to the invitees for their service. Sacrificing the normalcy and security of one's life for the betterment of others is the epitome of doing the right thing; the right thing for us to do as civilians is convey our gratitude for this sacrifice.
Over 4,000 military members and their families join us for our Annual Base Party.
Each year, Atlas Team Members are given a paid day off to do community service. Through our Foundation, we have existing partnerships with local charity and support organizations to volunteer at, including Gleaners, Forgotten Harvest, Fish-N’-Loaves and more. Team members look forward to spending their day of service in an impactful way.
Atlas Team Members use their day of service to volunteer throughout the community.
Doing the right thing means that sometimes you put the needs of others before your own. At the time of this writing, our Emergency Fueling Services team deployed a group of drivers to Louisiana to help with Hurricane Ida recovery efforts. Without fail, more drivers volunteer than there are slots available on these disaster deployments. They are aware that amenities may be sparse, and sleep may be lacking but they line up to go anyway. A founding principal of the division itself, they do the right thing by helping those who truly need it.

In addition to supporting the military, The Sam and Nada Simon Foundation supports a wide variety of causes: local law enforcement through sponsoring K9 officers, homeless and wounded veterans through Fisher House Ann Arbor and Piquette Square in Detroit, education for deserving students via scholarships to De la Salle High School, the empowerment of young women through Women of Tomorrow, and more.
